This Lop Feeder, crafted from
galvanized metal, is 3˝" wide, 3" deep, and 6˝" high. The hopper
tray extends outward by 3˝", to accommodate blocky lop rabbit heads. Feeder
hangs on the outside of the cage for ease of filling, and the hopper slides
inside through an opening you cut in the cage wire, saving room inside the cage
for the rabbit. Alternatively, our feeders now have hooks on the back
whereby they can be attached to the wire inside the cage, eliminating
the need to cut the wire, however it does then require more space inside the
Because the hopper is wider than the standard hopper, the manufacturer has added support tabs on each side of the feeder which support the screen - typical of the high quality and attention to detail of Quality Cage Co. (the manufacturer).
Fresh feed is kept clean and
constantly available, as the screen mesh bottom lets fines and dust fall out of
the feeder. This is important, as a) fines can quickly mold in humid climates, b)
unless rabbits are very hungry, they almost invariably refuse to eat the fines,
and 3) fines can end up choking the hopper, if not screened, reducing or
eliminating access to the feed pellets.
The 3.5" feeder is more than
ample enough to feed a small to medium lop rabbit for at least a day.
See our Standard Feeders, which come
in all sizes and have hoppers only 2.5” deep, perfect for most standard rabbit
breeds, if your rabbit is not a Lop.
